Featured Application: Green Ball Construction Provides Synthetic Turf for the New Texas Rangers Academy in the Dominican Republic
This week’s Featured Application comes to us from the Dominican Republic. Richard Stevens with Green Ball Construction supplied and installed Pro Ball Turf for the indoor and covered hitting cages at the new Texas Rangers Baseball Academy.
The Rangers HAD one of the worst facilities for player development in the Dominican Republic. The team invested nearly $13 million dollars on the new facility, which includes a new dormitory, weight room, playing field and hitting cages. The 26-acre facility took three years to build just a few minutes outside of Santo Domingo.
The Rangers also built a large classroom at the facility to help players earn a GED.

The goal of the academy is to recruit more talented players. The Dominican Republic is a well known hot bed for baseball talent. The team toured the facilities of every other Big League club before settiling on the design.
The game field was named in honor of Adrian Beltre, a Ranger great who hails from the Dominican Republic. His parents attended and participated in the dedication ceremony in November.
“The turf is a very small part of the facility, but it does provide a consistent, durable surface for the hitting cages,” Stevens said. “We were excited to get the call to help the Rangere Experience a Greener World!”
